If you do lots of repititions with little mass things will get leaner and more toned. If you do a smaller amount repititions with seriously of weight things will win bigger because the muscles will grow to adjust for heavy counterbalance.
it will tone your thighs and butt - all personal trainers speak that is the best exercise you can do! jump for it. just do it (okay Nike don't sue me)
Avoid doing fatty weights ans you should be able to avoid generous muscle building. Although, it's not going to make your butt bigger short also building the quads..

doing squats won't necessarily trade name your but bigger or your thighs bigger it will make them both stronger and more lean.
do street light weight and a great deal of reps...it will tone your legs but wont make them bigger.
Try the leg curl device.The one where you lay frontage down and pull the bulk with the posterior of your heel towards the backs of your legs. It mostly works the glutes and hamstring but less work on the quads than squats do.
It adjectives depends on what you are doing squats for!! If you are trying to gain waight and make bigger do squats next to alot of weight low reps max out at in the region of 5 reps and 3 sets! Max
If you are trying to tone and make skinner do street lamp weight beside alot of reps like 15 to 20 reps beside 3 sets min!! this burns fat and also tones! hope this help
squats will tone your body as long as you do high reps...so you def. want to do it!! it will help!
